A 1st date is supposed to give you chills and when it’s over, make you long for all the moments that you shared.  Not this date!  Angela agreed to go on a date with Omar, but she unwillingly had to cancel because her sister was on her way to give birth to her 1st child (Angela’s 1st nephew). Of course this sounded plain crazy to poor Omar!  But being the gentleman that he is, he joined Angela at the hospital to welcome a new life into this world. A baby was born, and a very eventful 1st date was shared with a bouncing baby nephew. I’m sure cutting an umbilical cord and sharing a new life was not on the agenda and it may not sound like the ideal date, but it was theirs.  Angela must have been a rock star of a labor coach because after only dating for 1 month Omar professed his  love for Angela by proposing to her and of course she accepted.  Shortly after their wedding day, Omar was deployed and they spent the 1st year of their marriage communicating through letters, and phone calls that were never long enough.

Angela and Omar have reached their 10 year mark in love and marriage and chose to document their milestone with a photoshoot.  I am honored and happy that I got to spend the day doing what I love…documenting life, love and moments that matter.

Here are some moments that will last Angela and Omar a lifetime!

Saturday was the Barquero family and Sunday The Gutierrez Kids!  Both families put so much thought into their sessions and made it theirs, as it should be!  I love when couples, or in this case families add their own spin on things and bring some fun to their sessions.  It makes for extra special moments, treasured forever.

When Andrea contacted me about her session, I knew I had to do this for her!  The inspiration from this shoot came from a classic picture of Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Elvis Presley & Marlin Brando.  Andrea’s mom has the legendary picture hanging in their game room and has always wanted a picture of her children as modern day legends.

I had the pleasure of photographing the Barquero Family.  Angela has a passion for baking and making the most beautiful edible items I have ever had.  She was able to entertain her children with decorating a Ginger Bread House that she made….this mom really knows how to put the magic in Christmas.

You will always be the little girl who loved Lamb Chop and Veggie Tales. Then came the boy bands, Back Street Boys and N Sync……. you memorized every song and loved to sing with your whole heart.  I miss those days and cherish them.   When you were just 15 months old you gave Alexander his nickname “Dander” because you couldn’t say Alexander.  And it stuck with all of us!

Growing up you asked so many questions and were always so inquisitive, but one of your favorite questions was “mom why am I special to you? Because I’m your first born, right?”  “Yes, because your my first born.”  If I knew the years were going to fly by so quickly I would have told you more.  I should have told you that you were special because not only are you my first born, but I loved you before I met you, I loved you so much and I didn’t know a love like this existed.  You made me a better version of me.  Everyday I thank God for choosing me to be your mom.  I didn’t deserve you, but I’m so glad that you’re mine.  Having you at 16 years old was a scary dark place for me.  The minute I held you in my arms I cried the happiest tears of peace and gratitude.  I knew that those tears cleansed my soul to help me see  bigger and better things for you, for us.  Watching you grow from a newborn to an adult has been one of my life’s biggest joys.

I pray for God’s Grace to shine on you, never let you walk in darkness.  Thank you Alyssa for being my daughter, I’m glad you are mine.  You amaze me!  Beautiful in every single way, smart beyond belief, witty and independent.  I want the world for you!  It’s ok that you haven’t figured out the world, you’ve figured out what’s important and that is the key to success.  I’m not worried about what you will do with your life or what career you choose, because whatever you do and touch turns into gold.  When a mom and daughter can come to terms over “waffle head and blueberry face” things don’t seem so bad. We won’t always see eye to eye,  but my love for you is unfailing.  Thank you for showing me the true meaning of Heaven on Earth. I love you with my whole heart.
